Robotic Surgery

In our permanent commitment to offer all available technology to our patients, we have the Da Vinci® robot and extensive experience using it.

For the treatment of prostate cancer, robotic, open and laparoscopic surgery have very similar oncologic and functional results. Nevertheless, robotic surgery has helped surgeons improve their skills, and many urologists with little experience treating prostate cancer can achieve the same results as the more experienced ones.

In our group, we have been using the Da Vinci® Robot for over 10 years, and we consider it a very useful tool. In our view, the robot should be considered as the present, but not the future direction that prostate cancer surgery should take.

Robotic surgery has been shown to minimise bleeding, decrease surgical time, shorten hospital stay and speed recovery, so patients may resume their life earlier.
